  1. Quick Start
  2. ============================================================
  3.  
  4. Three Wizards have been created for ease of installation 
  5. and configuration.
  6.  
  7. 1.  When The Lock is first installed, it will 
  8. automatically run the Security Wizard.
  9.  
  10. Each option in the Security wizard is presented with a 
  11. detail of what the function does.  Follow the prompts 
  12. carefully, reading each item completely.  At the completion 
  13. of this portion, the basic system security issues will have 
  14. been covered.  When the Finish button is presented, one of 
  15. three things may happen.
  16.  
  17. a)  The system will close the Security Wizard, and 
  18. The Lock will start.
  19.  
  20. b)  The system will log you off then back on if you 
  21. selected to disable CD Auto insert notification.
  22.  
  23. c)  The system will completely restart if you selected 
  24. to view the system BIOS settings.
  25.  
  26. When the system restarts, it will usually display a 
  27. message such as "Press DEL to enter CMOS" or "Press F2 
  28. for SETUP".  Once in CMOS, (BIOS), you will want to 
  29. disable booting from the A: drive, and set a password up 
  30. for access to the system setup.  MAKE SURE YOU CONSULT 
  31. YOUR SYSTEM USERS MANUAL BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES TO YOU 
  32. CMOS.  THE CMOS SETTINGS CONTROL ALL THE SYSTEM FUNCTIONS 
  33. AND AN INCORRECT SETTING MAY CAUSE THE SYSTEM TO FAIL TO BOOT.

  35. Note:  if you have elected to change system settings, the 
  36. system will cycle to The Lock for DOS during boot up.  At 
  37. this point, you do not have any passwords configured.  Simply 
  38. press the enter key to continue.

  40. 2.  Once you have run the Security Wizard and the system 
  41. has reverted back to The Lock, The Lock will prompt you to 
  42. change passwords.  
  43.

  45. The first password to be set is the standard USER password.  
  46. There will be a dialog box containing the user name obtained 
  47. from the system.  Select a password for this user name and 
  48. press Done to continue.   This password will log the user 
  49. into the system at a general user level, but they will not 
  50. have administrator access.

  52. The second password is the administrators password.  Since 
  53. this is the initial install, the default password of 
  54. PassWordCrash will be automatically entered into the Old 
  55. password box.  Select a new Admin password and enter it into 
  56. the New password dialog entry.  Verify the password and press 
  57. the Set Password button to continue.  DO NOT FORGET THIS
  58. PASSWORD, THERE IS NO BACK-DOOR BUILT INTO THE LOCK.

  60. 3.   After password configuration, The Lock will 
  61. automatically restart.  It is currently configured for one 
  62. user password and one Admin password.  When The Lock 
  63. starts up, log into the system using the Admin password.  
  64. Next, right click on the Pad Lock icon in the System Tray 
  65. (next to the clock, opposite the Windows 95 Start Button).  
  66. If there is no Pad Lock icon,  The Lock is not running.  
  67. You may start The Lock by pressing the Start Button, selecting 
  68. Programs from the menu, then CrashCourse Software.  The Lock 
  69. will be an item on that menu.  
  70.  
  71. Right click on the Pad Lock icon and The Locks user menu 
  72. will appear.  Select Options from the menu list, then select 
  73. Configuration.  This will bring up the Configuration Utility.  
  74. This utility will have a Wizard button at the lower left 
  75. hand corner.  If it does not have the wizard button, press 
  76. the Admin button and log into The Lock using your Admin 
  77. password.  Follow the prompts in the Configuration Wizard 
  78. through to its completion.
  79.  
  80. If you selected to edit User Group Profiles, The Configuration 
  81. Wizard will automatically start the User Profile Utility.  
  82. Follow this Wizard as you have for the previous two.
  83.  
  84. These three wizards can be used to configure most any 
  85. setting within The Lock.
